back to civilasation

My dear, lovely readers..
You might have wondered why I haven't been blogging the past week and I've got an really good excuse.
My boyfriend and I decided to spend a week in the wonderful Crete on vacation. I did really  believe that they were quite civilized over there, but no! -No internet!
We stayed at a city by the sea called Platanias. Crete was very delightful, but I'm happy to be back.
View from the apartment, the sea in the background
Greek food -Chicken Souvlaki, warmly recommended
The ocean at night
The ocean when it's quite windy..
Two of the days it was impossible to swim because of really really big wawes

Minigolf and boyfriend -A vacation without, is not a real vacation
he 3rd biggest city in Crete, Chania. Chania was really beautiful and a wonderful ZARA
The harbor and lighthouse
a walk to the lighthouse, really nice view..

One of the last days, we went hiking through the Samaria-cleft, which is the longest cleft in Europe. The hike was around 18 kilometers, enjoyed almost all 18. A really nice hike, beautiful, beautiful nature, never doing it again. (Was sooooo wasted the day after!)
Though you guys should try it if you're going to Crete, unless you have problems with knees, ankles or anything like that, then stay as far away as possible!

Last but not least, the coolest thing in Crete.
GOATS IN TREES!

Madame Grès Exhibition at Bourdelle

Madame Grès, La Couture à L’Oeuvre’ is the 1st retrospective in Paris of the work of this visionary couturier, an amazing exhibition organized by the Musée Galliera, and showcased at Musée Bourdelle – Madame Grès (1903-1993) continued to repeat throughout her life: “I wanted to be a sculptor. For me, it’s the same thing to work the fabric or the stone” - So curator Olivier Saillard had the fantastic concept to exhibit those sculpture-like pieces among other sculptures with a great very pure display in the Musée Bourdelle.

secret #2
I really can't sleep with an open door,
because I'm afraid of evil spirits.
I believe that if the door is closed,
they can't haunt me in my sleep.
-I guess I've been watching too many horror movies as child..

Thom Thom Billboard Art

These wonderful pieces of art are made by the talented, french urban artist Thom Thom aka Hephaestus or Thomas Louis Jacques Schmitt, who only works on billboards. He cuts, slashs, slices, and re-sticks to reconstruct the advertising message to distinguish it and upgrade it into street art. The consumerist publicity is first violently mutilated and then metamorphosed into committed artwork.
